Responsibilities
Performs a variety of routine tasks to support the delivery of safe, effective, cost-efficient patient care as delegated by聽the RN. They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning Functions in patient care聽unit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
2. Monitors and records vital signs
3. Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
4. Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output
5. Obtains and records daily weight
6. Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter
7. Reports changes in patient鈥檚 status promptly to RN
8. Performs as patient care companion when needed
9. Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process
10. Performs unit housekeeping needs
11. Acts as a runner/transporter
12. Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel
13. Updates assigned bed status
14. Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms, call lights, telephones and alerting the correct聽person.
15. Keeps patient environment clean, performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, no food or聽drink at the workstation, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient聽safety precautions
16. Communicates with patient鈥檚 family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and聽professional manner
17. Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma, GED or SRNA

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • BLS via the American Heart Association

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:

  • Healthcare experience preferred
