Responsibilities

The EMT is responsible for the delivery of patient care under the guidelines of the Tennessee Department of Public Health 鈥 EMS Board, the Georgia Department of Public Health 鈥 Office of EMS and Trauma, as well as the guidance of the department Medical Director.聽 The EMT will deliver care in the pre-hospital setting under the treatment protocols set forth and approved by the Director of EMS and the Medical Director.聽 The EMT will support the overall mission of CHI Memorial EMS.聽聽聽

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • The EMT will provide emergency medical treatment and transport to the sick and injured under his/her care in accordance with all applicable laws and department protocols and procedures.
  • The EMT will document all patient care performed in the approved Patient Care Report program, using the required format.聽聽
  • The EMT will ensure that all required paperwork is completed and turned in by end of shift.
  • The EMT will ensure that his/her equipment is in a state of readiness and cleanliness at the beginning of each shift and their ambulance is fully stocked in accordance with departmental procedures.聽聽
  • The EMT will report any deficiencies and/or mechanical issues with their supplies, equipment, or vehicle to a supervisor in a timely fashion.聽 They will restock the unit as necessary.聽聽
  • The EMT will work as part of a team to support and facilitate the mission of CHI Memorial EMS
  • The EMT will attend any required education that is deemed necessary by the Director or the Medical Director.聽聽
  • The EMT will be responsible for his/her licensure and the required education for renewal.聽 Education will be provided by the Department but it is the EMT鈥檚 responsibility to ensure they have enough credits for their own renewal.聽聽
  • The EMT will perform any other duties as requested by a supervisor, the EMS Operations Manager, or Director of EMS.聽聽

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.聽 Graduate of an accredited school for EMS Education to the AEMT Level

Must have the following:聽

Must have the following upon hire; Tennessee EMT license or Georgia EMT license

State license which is not obtained upon hire is required within 12 months

National Registry (in order to obtain license once license obtained National Registry is no longer required).

The following certification:

American Heart Association 鈥 BLS Health Care Provider



The following license:

Valid State Driver鈥檚 License (If TN license, the 鈥淔鈥 endorsement is required)
